Full Spectrum CBD vs. CBD Isolate.
WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE?
As we become more informed of the benefits, they are faced with a choice between using products made from CBD Isolate or Full-Spectrum CBD.
So, what exactly is the difference between the two?
Full-Spectrum or “whole-plant” CBD, means that the CBD contains all other cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant including CBN (Cannabinol), CBG (Cannabigerol), and THCV (Tetrahydrocannabivarin), to name a few. And yes, along with these cannabinoids, most Full Spectrum CBD also contains trace amounts of THC, but in very low concentrations (under 0.3%). CBD Isolate, on the other hand, is simply purified CBD that has been extracted from the cannabis plant and isolated from the other cannabinoids.
While there is no debate that CBD offers the most benefits compared to any single cannabinoid, many wonder if CBD alone is more effective for treating ailments than all the cannabinoids combined.
100% THC FREE? YES PLEASE.
e’fekt™ CBD is 100% THC FREE. With zero THC, there is no psychotropic effect.
Hemp – NOT to be confused with its close cousin, a psychotropic plant called marijuana – has been used for thousands of years in human history for a variety of purposes, medicine, foods, oils, art canvases, clothes, paper, and much much more. Hemp farming has had a long history in the United States. In fact, seven different presidents were known to have farmed hemp: George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and Andrew Jackson, to name a few. Hemp has been used extensively as recently as World War II when it was cultivated in Kentucky and midwestern states to make uniforms, canvas, and rope.
THE ENTOURAGE E’FEKT™: CHEMICAL TEAMWORK
First described in 1998 by Israeli scientists Shimon Ben-Shabat and Raphael Mechoulam, the basic idea of the entourage effect is that cannabinoids within the cannabis plant work together, or possess synergy, and affect the body in a mechanism similar to the body’s own endocannabinoid system. The collective whole of extracting the full spectrum of cannabinoids, and maintaining their presence delivers 3-5x higher value and efficacy.
The “Entourage Effect” theory has been expanded in recent times and defines four basic mechanisms of whole-plant extract synergy as follows:
1. Ability to affect multiple targets within the body
2. Ability to improve the absorption of active ingredients
3. Ability to overcome bacterial defense mechanisms
4. Ability to minimize adverse side effects.
An allegiance with the wellness category has helped cannabis in its route to becoming as everyday as a glass of wine. In fact, many proponents of cannabis use for wellness believe the effects of the drug to be much less harmful than those of alcohol.
Nonetheless, due to its restricted legal status, the effects of recreational marijuana use remain woefully under-researched. Many individual users and proponents of cannabis use claim that the drug is not only less harmful than alcohol, but that it may also have positive health effects beyond those already approved for medicinal purposes.
To understand the role of cannabis products in the booming wellness economy, it is crucial to understand the difference between tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD), two of the major cannabinoids present in cannabis. While THC is the psychoactive compound responsible for the majority of the effects that make up a traditional “high”, CBD can be derived from industrial hemp, making it technically legal in all 50 US states.
